Happy Birthday Jon!!

I just wanted to post a quick shout out to Jon on his birthday.
For those of you who are lucky enough to know Jon, you already know how awesome he is; for those who don't, he is basically the coolest person I know, and he doesn't even have to try.

There will be a little gathering at the Skybox at 7:00 p.m. this Friday. Come and play arcade games with Jon - he would really love that.

***For Rhett's benefit: "Jon" is Jonathan David Madsen - you know, the guy you live with. Also, my boyfriend that I reference quite frequently. So much so that I feel my blog readers are well aware of him. Here is a picture of him to help you out.

Monday, Monday

I had a pretty awesome Monday last week. I should have posted last week, but I should have done a lot of things last week.

So, Jon and I had our Valentine's dinner a little early to avoid the crowds on the 14th. On Monday, he took me to Flemings. It was very, very good. We had the crab and shrimp, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and the chocolate cake. Save up your money and go there- you won't be sorry.

While you are saving up your money, you might as well get a Mac Book Pro - which is what I did after dinner on Monday. I'm super into my new laptop- I think it is pretty. I got a macbook because I am too lazy to deal with hooking up a video cam for my PC I use for work, but I still want the ability to chat with everyone when I move. Also, I don't want to have to haul my computer home every night on the train when I'm living in New York. This way, I will always have a computer at home. Also, I won't have to buy a portable DVD player anymore. I'm planning on watching a lot of movies as part of my "winding down for sleep" time.

This Monday was pretty decent as well. First of all, I had the holiday off - "WHAT!? Maria has a national holiday off ?! " Why, yes - yes, I did. It was lovely. I started the day off with a grand breakfast at the Grand America . Then, I went to get my hair done - always a treat. After that, ice cream sundaes. Even though I got a stomach ache from the ice cream, I don't regret eating it - so good.

I hope next Monday doesn't disappoint.

If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere

So, if you read the street signs closely, you can see my new address starting April 1st; Braodway and Wall Street. Those are two streets I never really associated myself with in any "real" capacity, but it is becoming all too real as the weeks go by. I accepted a promotion within my company, and that promotion came with a transfer to our brand new New York office ( Midtown). I'll be on a plane on one of the last days in March.
This was definitely the hardest decision I've ever made in my life. I am finally to the point where I can talk about the move without crying, so that is a good sign, right? I really love where I am at in my life right now and I have no complaints with living in Salt Lake City. In fact, I have enjoyed living in this little city more than I ever thought I would. This is a great opportunity career wise (even though I don't really want a career), and certainly an adventure to live in New York City. The great part about the whole transfer situation is that I am only required to stay there for one year. If I want to come back to the Utah office after one year, then I can. I don't think this opportunity would be as appealing if the option to come back wasn't there.
I will miss everyone here more than I probably realize right now. The good news is that I have a great apartment that is pretty huge for Manhattan standards AND my own room - so this means I am expecting visitors!! So far people have been very supportive, but very surprised. Trust me, so am I. This was certainly not in my future plans. So far the funniest reaction has been Rhett.
Rhett: What!!?? Wow..... Wow.....
Me: Yeah, I know - I've kind of been feeling like something was going to change in my life, and I guess this is it. I know it is crazy.
Rhett: Geez, I was just thinking of rearranging my bedroom or something.
